New novel out on Amazon: A Quiet Perfect Moment in Time

In Kindle eBook format and paperback:

A 'Low Fantasy'/supernatural tale of love, heartbreak and mystery.

How long can real love last? A perfect moment? A lifetime? Beyond that?

West Hollywood, California, 1968. Anya is one of a small community of young artistic hippies and bohemians living in a funky 'Olde Worlde'-style apartment complex called Provencal Village. Anya is an aspiring artist, a painter of surreal and fantasy art. Fellow tenant Jimmy is a talented singer-songwriter hoping to release his first album. He and Anya are both psychic and share a telepathic bond and a sense of being soulmates. They are in love and their relationship is strong and intense, their life together idyllic.

But when one day the idyll suddenly and mysteriously ends, Anya is left questioning what she thought was real, and has to make the hardest decisions of her life. Across the next four decades, she tries to pick up the pieces of her shattered existence and to solve the mystery of what really happened that terrible day.

New book out on Amazon - Melisande: The Reawakening

I originally wrote this book many years ago.  At the time, the concept of a reincarnation-themed love story was a novel one, the only precedent that I knew of being ‘Green Darkness’ by Anya Seton, released in 1971 and which I’d read as a teenager upon its release.  I enjoyed ‘Green Darkness’ so much that when years later I decided to try to take up writing as a vocation, I felt inspired to have my first effort also be a spooky reincarnation-based romance.

But unfortunately, Murphy’s Law being operative in my life as it all too often is, the year after I wrote ‘Melisande: The Reawakening’ and sent it to numerous publishers and literary agents only to acquire an impressive collection of rejection letters, a book by another author with a similar reincarnation theme was published and became a best seller.  Realizing that my book would no longer have a chance of being published due to the other book’s similarity, I consigned my manuscript to a dusty storage file, not having the heart to throw it away altogether.

Now completely overhauled and updated, I hope this humble offering will be able to have a new lease of life thanks to indie self-publishing!

A reincarnation-themed love story of two places and times, several thousand miles and eight and a half centuries apart.

Kate is a rock guitarist with a troubled past. She leaves her home town of Los Angeles to stay with her cousin in London, wanting a clean break from her unhappy life and her cheating ex-boyfriend Robert. She soon meets Morgan, an artist and guitarist, and with him she finds herself the happiest she's ever been. But there are strange complications. All her life she has been haunted by a baffling recurring dream which takes place in medieval France. Since meeting Morgan, the dreams have started changing and he, and Robert, have begun featuring in them.

Spookier still, in waking life she keeps finding that when she's with Morgan, she feels like the experiences they share have happened before, a very long time ago. But that simply isn't possible. Or, is it? Only when Kate undergoes hypnotic regression and finds herself in 12th century England as Melisande, one of a troupe of wandering French troubadours, does she gain a chance of an explanation for her strange dreams and experiences.

Paperback editions of Star Suspect and Do Your Own Astrological Chart

Paperback editions of two of my Kindle eBooks, "How to Do Your Own Astrological Chart" and "Star Suspect" (see my previous post, January 4th 2014), are now up for purchase.

I particularly thought it would be helpful to have a paperback version of the astrology book available, because many people might find a paper format a more accessible way of using a textbook.  Makes it a lot easier to go back and forth between different reference sections instead of the more cumbersome manner of doing it on an electronic device.

Both paperbacks can be found on the same links as their eBook versions listed in my previous January 4th post.  Just click the 'Paperback' option on the book's page rather than the 'Kindle Edition' option, to take a look.

On Amazon Kindle: Star Suspect by D. M. McClain, Do Your Own Astrological Chart by Esme Morgan

Having written novels for many years with no success getting published by traditional publishers, I decided to try out Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing scheme.  The books I've published to the scheme are pitched at very affordable prices, and response has been reasonably good.  KDP is a brilliant way of filling the gap in the market both for new writers unable to get anywhere with brick-and-mortar publishers but who can tell a good story, and for 'quick read' shorter novels of the 200-300 page length rather than the 700-800 page blockbusters traditional publishers want.

Being a keen reader myself who likes a good escapist novel to fall asleep with at night due to my raging insomnia, I've found many Kindle Direct novels on Amazon that are as good as those from traditional publishers but at a fraction of the price.  Worth checking out even if you don't have a Kindle reader, because you can download free software from Amazon that lets you read Kindle books on your PC, Mac, Android tablet/phone, iPad, or iPhone.

My novel-writing focus is on stories that incorporate a supernatural element such as astrology, clairvoyance, ghosts, reincarnation, dreams that come true, and random other aspects of the spooky and mystical.

Could a serial killer who has been terrorising Los Angeles be choosing his victims according to the positions of the stars? Callie Bright, an astrologer and horoscope columnist for a small local newspaper, chances upon the discovery that the latest murder corresponds to the occurrence of a certain malevolent astrological aspect. She begins to wonder if the previous murders may have also coincided with recurrences of this aspect, and upon researching further, finds this to indeed be the case.

She tells the police only to find that her astrological theory gets her dismissed as a crank. Meanwhile, Jack Morgan, a private detective, has been hired by the mother of one of the victims to see if he can pick up on any clues that the police may have missed. The mother learns of Callie’s theory and wants Jack to interview Callie. Jack and Callie meet and compare their findings regarding the killer’s methods, and between them they begin to discover what seems like a pattern.

I wrote this book under an alternative pen name, because I wanted to keep my fiction and this one non-fiction book separate.

I was a professional astrologer for more than two decades, and having had so many clients express curiosity about how a chart is created and interpreted, I’ve put together this little ‘How-To’ book on how to do it yourself. It’s aimed at beginners who have an interest in astrology but no previous experience in creating a chart.

This is not another ‘Sun Sign’ book, but is about what goes on behind the creating and interpretation of a complete birth chart, and shows you, hopefully easily and painlessly, how to do it yourself. I try to keep things as simplified and straightforward as possible in order to reduce ‘information overload’.

A few extra Sims 3 creations

This post is for a few of my Sims creations in addition to those hosted at Mod The Sims.  My home page on Mod The Sims is: http://www.modthesims.info/member.php?u=3169963

Policy:

If you use any of these items for uploads, picture-taking, storytelling, etc, please just give me credit and a link back to this page.  And please don't upload any of it to pay sites or the Exchange!

Sims 2 Social Bunny Head for Sims 3

First, a requested Sims 3 conversion of the head of the Social Bunny from The Sims 2.  I had a problem with not being able to correct a blurriness problem with the original texture, so it would not be able to pass muster with MTS's quality requirements for upload there, but doesn't look too bad as long as you're not really close up.  If you would find it useful for your Sims 3 game, grab it from the Download link below.  It's enabled for male and female, teens to elders, and is found under Hat Hairs.

The model below is wearing it with the bunny pajama outfit from the Showtime expansion (click the pic for a closer view):

Jenny, Johnny and Jill Smith

After I uploaded my Sims 3 re-creation of Pollination Technician #9 Smith to Mod The Sims, several people requested that I upload the rest of my TS3 versions of the family that I used as models in the screenshots: wife Jenny, and kids Johnny and Jill (click the pic for a closer view) (it was hard to get a decent pic of Jill as she is ALWAYS making stupid faces):

So, here are the .sim files for the rest of the family.  As you probably know, they go in your SavedSims folder.  In CAS, Jenny will be found in the Adult section, Johnny in Teens, and Jill in Children.  Just put PT#9 and the rest of the family together in CAS and assign their relationships before saving them as a family, and you're good to go.

They are all dressed in base game hairdos and clothes, no cc needed.
